John Rich makes no secret of his political leanings. He speaks out on many issues concerning society and our government. The latest has the “Comin’ To Your City” singer taking a stance against sports apparel giant Nike for the hiring of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Colin, who has been at the center of the NFL kneeling controversy and has been seen wearing socks portraying pigs in cop hats, announced that he will be one of Nike’s new faces for their 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign. The campaign will also feature athletes such as Serena Williams and NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

After hearing the news, John Rich took to Twitter on a tirade, calling for the boycott of Nike products.

“Hey @Nike I guess you made @Kaepernick7 your new “face” of the brand because you love the way his socks look with your shoes? @Reebok here we come. #WeStand  John wrote in his first Tweet with a closeup of the socks Collin sported on game day.

When a fan disagreed with John and asked why he couldn’t just disagree but still respect the same rights of others? John responded adamantly about his stance

“When you compare police to PIGS, this ends the discussion for me. If you don’t find a problem with that, then feel free to unfollow me. The police JUST SHOWED UP at our concert to protect and serve, I’ll ask them what they think and get back to you…”

And it didn’t stop there. John continued Tweeting to Nike and sharing his disgust with fans.

“Hey if you’re gonna make the shoes, make the PIG SOCKS to match. Right? Cmon, people will LOVE that,” read another tweet.

“Our Soundman just cut the Nike swoosh off his socks. Former marine. Get ready multiply that by the millions,” he wrote in another, with a photo of the cut socks.

He went on to respond to some Twitter followers who did not see where the country singer was coming from.

“The fact that I have to explain that MOST of us own products prior to this “Revelation” that Mr. is now their poster man, let’s me know you’re smoking too much, and are probably living in your parents basement.”

John also told everyone to keep on eye on Nike stock this time next week. We assume he believes the stock will drop due to this decision. Only time will tell, but we have a feeling John is going to back down on this one.
