Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife, Tish, have come under social media scrutiny after posting a pair of photos on Twitter implying their use of cannabis.

The first photo, posted on February, 14, shows Tish cradling a bouquet of flowers. Among the buds are actual marijuana buds, still on the stalk. Attached to the bouquet is a note that reads:

“Tish – Happy Valentine’s Day. Try not to smoke it all in one sitting.”

In the caption, Billy Ray writes, “What? And I had to be a closet smoker for 40 years? Once had to buy @TishCyrus a car just because she smelled it on me.”

The comments that follow the post are mostly humorous, good-natured, and supportive. But in the next post, the tone shifts.

The next photo, dated February 15, shows Tish smiling and standing next to a storage locker. In and on the locker are multiple clear plastic bags that appear to contain large amounts of cannabis buds.

Billy Ray’s caption reads, “Yes! Like I said yesterday @TishCyrus…my how the times they are a changing. #CrazyMama.”

The comments that follow make accusations based on their race and celebrity.

Others still point out that many users have been incarcerated for possessing far less marijuana than is featured in the photo.

Some comments express shock and disappointment that the star and his family allegedly smoke, while others are more surprised that the posts were made with an Android Blackberry.

There is nothing in the second photo that confirms that the cannabis does, in fact, belong to Billy Ray and Tish, or that the locker is on their property. It bears mentioning that possession and sale of marijuana remains illegal in the state of Tennessee, however, CBD oils are available in the state.

The Cyrus family has previously owned a home in California, where marijuana usage is legal with different restrictions for recreational and medical usage. It is unknown if Billy Ray still owns a home in California or if there is a medical need for cannabis.
