When the Academy of Country Music asked country artists to help fill a void left by the temporarily postponed ACM Awards, they responded with gusto and delivered some of the most intimate performances many country music fans have ever seen. Among them, coming from his farm in Oklahoma, was Blake Shelton and his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. And not only did they deliver a dose of healing and harmony, they added a touch of hilarity to round things out.

Before Blake and Gwen performed their hit collaboration, “Nobody But You,” the country star joked that they were in Oklahoma where they were passing the time drinking, which Gwen laughed and denied. Bundled up in winter coats and standing near a warm fire, accompanied by only Blake’s guitar, the couple delivered an intimate, acoustic version of their new hit, singing to the camera and then to each other, smiling while gazing into each other’s eyes and locking in that tight harmony on the chorus.

It ended much too quickly for fans of Blake and Gwen, but as they closed Blake added, “Stay stafe everybody, we love you.” Then, realizing that he had tripped over his own tongue, he mocked himself adding, “I said ‘stay stafe,’” which caused Gwen to double over giggling on his shoulder.

The day this pair ties the knot is going to be glorious.
