Carrie Underwood extended her record for most CMT Award wins Wednesday night when she took home her 18th CMT Music Award for Female Video of the Year at the 2018 ceremony.
Going into the night, Carrie was already the most-awarded artist in CMT Awards history, with 17 wins, including 6 for Video of the Year. But when she took home her most recent trophy, she made it that much harder to catch her.
““Thank you God for all of us who are lucky enough who sit over here, that we get to do what we get to do,” Carrie said in her acceptance speech. “And thank God for you guys—the fans. You guys really are the reason that we get to do what we do. Whoever went and voted for anybody, just thank you for taking the time. It means everything.”
Prior to her win, Carrie took the stage to perform her current single, “Cry Pretty.” Dressed in a low cut black dress, the singer was surrounded by a crystal beaded curtain that kept Carrie contained. It wasn’t until she belted out the chorus in true Carrie style that she broke free from the enclosure.
Carrie also took to Twitter later in the night to thank her fans once again. “Yay!!!!! I won a
#CMTAward!!! Thank you, fans, for voting your fingers off!,” she wrote. “And congrats to all the other winners and their fans tonight, too! What a party!”
You can say that again.
