Football season is about to begin and Carrie Underwood is just as excited as the rest of us. The country beauty has been the opening voice of “Sunday Night Football” for six consecutive years and now she’s giving us a behind the scenes look at how football’s big night all comes together.
“It is an honor to be back for my sixth year with ‘Sunday Night Football,’ Carrie says in the video.
Past seasons had Carrie singing “Oh, Sunday Night,” to the tune of her hit with Miranda Lambert, “Something Bad.” This season shows “SNF” and Carrie changing it up with the new tune, “Game On.”
“We felt like it was maybe time to switch it up,” adds Carrie. “I got together with a couple of incredible co-writers, Chris DeStefano and Brett James. It was written specifically for ‘Sunday Night Football’ and I feel like it’s such a great hype song.”
Previously announced, Carrie will be joined by 10 NFL players for the new opening, including Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff, Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, and Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz.
“People love ‘Sunday Night Football.’ said Carrie. “They love the incredible matchups. There’s excitement and drama. That’s why it is the number one show on TV.”
Are you ready?
Carrie’s upcoming album, Cry Pretty, will be released on Sept. 14. It marks her first release with Capitol Records Nashville.
