Carrie Underwood made an appearance on the Today Show Tuesday morning (March 3) to promote her new book Find Your Path and her Fit 52 fitness app. However, her thoughts were back in her home state of Tennessee after a devastating tornado ripped through the Nashville and surrounding areas.

Today show host Savannah Guthrie immediately asked about her thoughts on the tornado and her family.

“I’m texting people I know and I’m asking my husband, ‘everybody’s good? Is everybody we know good?,” Carrie said before revealing that her husband Mike and kids are doing well. “He said he had to go upstairs at two a.m. and grab the boys and take them down to—we have a little safe room in our house. I was like, ‘I bet everybody is crying at two a.m, freaking out.”

The tornado caused massive devastation in East Nashville, Donelson, Mt.Juliet and Hemitage areas, with 19 people dead, according to TEMA (Tennessee Emergency Management Agency).

Home to many country music artists and a favorite city for celebrities, there were many artists reaching out via social media to send love to the Nashville community and those who were devastated by the storm, losing their homes and their lives.

“Praying so hard for everybody affected by the awful tornado last night. We love you, Nashville!! ❤️❤️,” share Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman.

“My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Nashville area affected by the tornado last night. Even if the tornado didn’t hit our personal space, we are all affected because we are Nashvillians. My heart hurts for Nashville this morning. #sendingprayers,” wrote Reba McEntire.

“My family and I are safe and sound, but this morning reveals terrible damage to this beautiful city. Lives lost. Homes, schools, and businesses destroyed. Our hearts and prayers go out to those most deeply affected, and soon our hands will. Nashville will rise and lift the broken,” added Nashville actor Charles Esten.

“My heart goes out to this wonderful city and community. I have lived here since 1987 and not seen this level of damage. Thinking and praying for all who were affected. #nashvillestrong,” remarked Terri Clark.

“Prayers for NASHVILLE and beyond and to all those affected by last nights devastation @thebasementeast 🙏🏻🙏🏻💔 #ibelieveinnashville,” wrote Jamie O’Neal.

Jake Owen said, “I’m thankful for the well wishes here in Nashville from everyone. There are people that have lost loved ones and their homes. We as NASHVILLE will stand together and help anyone and everyone in need. That’s why I’m proud to live here and call it home.”

“Thinking of Nashville and everyone in Tennessee recovering from last night’s devastating tornadoes, especially those who have lost loved ones. Thank you to the first responders—please stay safe,” shared Apple’s Tim Cook
