Carrie Underwood is gearing up for the release of her sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, on September 21, but prior to the release, Carrie made the rounds with one stunning performance of the title track after another.
Since the television debut of the “Cry Pretty” at the ACM Awards in April, we’ve gotten to see Carrie’s outstanding vocal range work it’s magic in the new single. But it’s a performance of said song at the Grand Ole Opry that has fans even more impressed than they already are with the award-winning singer.
Carrie took the hallowed Opry stage during a performance in May, decked out in a red and black sequined dress, easing into the beginning vocals. Fast forward to the chorus and the powerful vocals we know and love take over throughout the songs.
“You can pretty lie and say it’s okay / You can pretty smile and just walk away / Pretty much fake your way through anything / But you can’t cry pretty,” she belts in the chorus.
Carrie recently celebrated 8 years of marriage with her husband Mike Fisher and received rave reviews stemming from her performance of “The Champion” with Ludacris at the Radio Disney Music Awards.
