Carrie Underwood is going Hollywood. But not to worry, the seven-time Grammy winner isn’t leaving country music, she’s simply adding her name to the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame with her very own star.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that the country girl from Checotah, Oklahoma will be immortalized in stone on Sept. 20, when the 2,646th star is embedded into the Walk of Fame, located right outside of Capitol Records.
“American Idol” judge, Simon Cowell, who early on predicted that Carrie would sell more albums than any other “Idol,” will be a guest speaker at the ceremony. Joining Cowell as a speaker will be Carrie’s longtime friend and CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley.
“Fans of Carrie Underwood will be thrilled when they see their favorite performer accept her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. People from all over the world have been asking when she will be honored, and we are proud to say, the time is now,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “We welcome everyone to Hollywood to cheer her on!”
The news comes as Carrie is set to release her sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, on Sept. 14. The latest offering will be her first album released under her new label…wait for it… Capitol Records.
