What would a grand finale of ABC’s American Idol be without a visit from one of its most successful winners to date?  Still, it was a bit of a surprise and a huge delight when Carrie Underwood appeared on the stage in a burst of fireworks.

Performing the sassy summer blast from her Cry Pretty album, “Southbound,” Carrie looked Miami bound in a sequin striped jumpsuit with split legs and a splash of tropical lemony yellow. During her performance, she wandered out onto the catwalk to greet fans and to get judge Katy Perry involved in the dance party.

Carrie has a night off from her insanely exciting and successful Cry Pretty Tour 360 before she and her tour partners, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June, start heading towards the Pacific Northwest. After that, they take a sharp turn north for a six-stop run through Canada. She also has a detour into the United Kingdom in late June where The Shires will open for the superstar. Then they’re back in the states for the remainder of the tour which is scheduled to wrap on Halloween in Detroit.

The talented beauty will also be in Nashville for the CMT Music Awards on June 5, where she’s nominated for Video of the Year (“Cry Pretty) and Female Video of the Year (“Love Wins) and also for CMA Music Festival where she’ll headline Nissan Stadium on June 7.
