Cassadee Pope recently performed on the famed stage of the Grand Ole Opry and ahead of her set, the singer took some time to sing one of the genre’s most influential country songs backstage. On her drive to the Opry, the singer admits that Lee Ann Womack’s 2000 chart topper “I Hope You Dance” popped up on her Spotify playlist and she knew she had to cover the song.
Backed by two guitarists, Cassadee showcased why she’s one of the best vocalists in the genre as she belted the powerful tune. The stripped down performance allowed the singer’s wavering vocals to be at the forefront of the song as she put her own spin on the chart topper. One of the song’s highlights includes Cassadee’s stunning vocals on the chorus, which would no doubt make Lee Ann proud.
“Had the best time backstage at the @opry getting to sing a @leeannwomack tune!” Cassadee shared on Twitter.
Cassadee has a busy summer ahead as she is set to return to Vans Warped Tour for the tour’s final run. She first graced the stage eight years ago as the lead singer of punk band Hey Monday. She’ll return to the stage on July 30 and 31.
Surprise! I’m playing two dates on the FINAL @VansWarpedTour on 7/30-31st! Can’t believe it was 10 years ago when Hey Monday played it. I might even play a few HM tunes 😉 Can’t wait to get all nostalgic with you all! pic.twitter.com/hu2twPAkQp

“Growing up, the thought of playing Warped Tour was a dream. Now, not only do I get to say, ‘I played Warped Tour twice,’ I get to perform songs that I poured my heart and soul into over the last few years,” she says in a press release. “It almost feels like a graduation of sorts for me, and I can’t wait to get on that stage and get all nostalgic!”
While Cassadee is gearing up to head out as part of Warped Tour, Lee Ann has been taking a family vacation in Alaska. “Enjoying the sights sounds of #Alaska this week and making a few new friends along the way!” she shares in one Instagram post.
In another post, Lee Ann includes a photo collage of her family aboard the Aleutian Ballad, a boat featured on the show “Deadliest catch.” The singer will return to the road in July where she has several festival performances lined up.
