Chris Young made his debut on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” Wednesday morning (Aug. 8) when he performed his new single, “Hangin’ On,” for the New York studio audience. For three minutes, the country crooner showcased his vocal ability on the nostalgic ballad.
Dressed completely in black, the singer was backed by a full band as he sang the romantic track about spending time with his love. Chris penned the song with frequent collaborators Josh Hoge and Corey Crowder, and it’s featured on his latest album, 2017’s Losing Sleep. As “Hangin’ On” continues to climb the country charts, it could become the singer’s 11th No. 1 hit.
The Grand Ole Opry member has a busy year ahead as he recently announced the third extension of his 2018 Losing Sleep Tour. The tour kicked off in January, having Chris add dates for April and May and later for September. Now, the extension sees Chris close out the year on the road.
“This year has been such an emotional one for me on so many levels. All I can say is that I am grateful,” Chris says. “Thank you to country music fans.”
The third trek begins on Oct. 25 in Evansville, Indiana, and will include performances by Morgan Evans and Dee Jay Silver as well as Dan + Shay. Additionally, Chris will be featured on tonight’s “CMA Fest” special on ABC. The three-hour event was filmed in Nashville in June during the annual CMA Music Festival where Chris and countless other country artists performed and met many of their fans. The singer took some time to surprise his fans during an impromptu meet and greet in Music City on his birthday.
“CMA Fest 2018 is officially in the books. Thank you to everybody that came out and stood in line,” Chris says in a video clip. “Two-and-a-half hours of saying hey to people. You guys are amazing. You are that the reason this whole thing grows and my career grows and everybody else’s career grows, so thank you. I love you guys! I’ll see you at CMA Fest next year!”
