Dan + Shay are tearing down the curtain to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at their latest video for “Tequila.”
The video, which reached 5 millions views, was conceptualized by Dan Smyers and director Patrick Tracy. A hearing impaired man meets a woman in the Colorado mountains and a relationship ensues.
“The idea was to have an ordinary story of two extraordinary people. Our dream for this treatment was for Nyle DiMarco to be the lead actor in the video,” said Dan. “It was incredible having Nyle in the video just a superstar and the kindest guy. He’s also a Steelers fan, so he’s got that going for him.
Nyle, a model and deaf activist, stars in the duo’s video that uses his sign language abilities. Nyle is the first deaf winner of “America’s Next Top Model Cycle 22.”
“As a deaf individual myself, growing up with my entire deaf family, my goal is to make sure that American sign language was always integrated to become more mainstream in society—more acceptable, more out there” Nyle said. “To see that and to see our language portrayed here in such beauty, I am more than honored to be here in this project.”
“Tequila” serves as the first single from Dan + Shay’s forthcoming third studio album, expected for release later this year.
