Dolly Parton’s kindness and generosity is well documented, but not every cause that the big- hearted country legend attends to is born of crisis. In fact, one of her longest running and most recognized passion projects is her “Imagination Library”—a book-gifting program that provides age-appropriate books to children from birth to the age of five in nearly 2,000 communities in the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

Of course, there’s much more to the Imagination Library than that, and we’ll all learn that story in an upcoming documentary. In a post on her Instagram page, Dolly shared the news: “I am thrilled that @DanicaMcKellar will be narrating the story of the Imagination Library for the upcoming documentary, The Library that Dolly Built.”

If the name sounds familiar, you might remember Danica from her role as Winnie Cooper in the hit TV series, The Wonder Years, or you may recognize her from one of her Hallmark Channel movies. But great acting chops aren’t the only reason Danica is a good pick.
The UCLA grad has also helped write several books for young people to help take the fear out of math class, including Math Doesn’t Suck: How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail and Kiss My Math: Showing Pre Algebra Who’s Boss.

Obviously excited about the new opportunity, Danica commented on Dolly’s post, “I’m so incredibly honored to be a part of this wonderful documentary that shares so much of your amazing story.”

Everybody loves Dolly!

“Legend!! 😍 I got to meet Dolly Parton last month and it absolutely blew my mind,” Danica wrote in a post of her own. “I was given the honor of narrating her upcoming documentary, and the producers SURPRISED me at the recording studio with a visit from Dolly herself!! I’ve loved her since I was a child, watching her on TV with my grandmother… and I know my Grammy is watching down on me, so excited about this. ❤❤❤ The documentary I’m narrating, “The Library that Dolly Built,” chronicles her early life and the creation of her incredible literacy program, @imaginationlibrary.”
