After losing his brother Brandon just over a week ago, Eric Church returned to the stage to pay tribute to the 36-year-old.
Eric got back on the road for a performance at the Country Concert in Fort Laramie, Ohio. While there, the North Carolina native took a moment to honor his late brother with a powerful version of “Amazing Grace,” followed by an acoustic version of “Sinners Like Me.”
In the video posted on Twitter, you can hear the crowd fall silent as Eric launched into the tribute. He followed those songs up with a tune he co-wrote with Brandon called “How ’bout You.” According to a fan post, Eric told the crowd, “It’s been a tough week. But I need this. I need my people.”
Brandon Church passed away on Friday, June 29 and Eric’s camp released a statement on his fan club site saying, “It is with great sadness to confirm that Eric’s brother, Brandon, passed away on Friday evening.”
The Granite Falls Police Department in North Carolina, where Brandon resided, said that Brandon was at home prior to his death and passed away on his way to the hospital.
Our thoughts are with Eric and his family.
