Just as we settle in to celebrate this season of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men,” Florida Georgia Line has released a new lyric video for their song celebrating humanity, “People Are Different.”
With the new album, Can’t Say I Ain’t Country, set to drop in February, and available for pre- order now, the duo’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard gave fans a surprise in their social media stocking with the song and music video that promotes the universal message of peace, hope, and equality.
“Slip on a pair of another man’s shoes / You’ll see by the time you get back / This old world would be a whole lot better place / If we’d all just embraced the fact / That people are different / People are different,” the duo sings.
In addition to the lyrics, photographs of people from different races and cultures, and families and relationships of all configurations are featured in the video, driving home the gist of the important song.
“People Are Different” seems to be another step in the evolution of Florida Georgia Line who broke through in 2012 with the insanely successful “Cruise,” that helped launch an entire movement in country music. As their career has progressed, their music often adopts deeper and more meaningful lyrics, perhaps reflecting that both Tyler and Brian are now more settled both personally and professionally.
That hardly means these young men have left behind their good-time party anthems or their cutting edge production and collaborations. In fact, Can’t Say I Ain’t Country features Florida Georgia Line working with R&B, hip-hop, and pop singer-songwriter Jason Derulo, rising Mississippi artist Hardy, long-time pal Jason Aldean, and, of course, “Meant to Be” collaborator Bebe Rexha.
