Florida Georgia Line is on a heckuva musical evolution and they showcase that with their new pal and rising star, Hardy, in the lyric video for “Y’all Boys.”
The newly released tune is a fun-loving romp describing what makes a country boy. Light- hearted tongue-in-cheek lyrics, like “Ain’t got a dog that lives outside, ain’t got a buddy named Buddy,” are set to rolling melodies and the toe-tapping beats that FGL has become known for.
But songwriters Hardy, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, and Brett Tyler also made it clear that this tune isn’t digging at the fellas who didn’t grow up in the country. In fact, one line says, “I ain’t hatin’ on them boys who grew up lockin’ their doors…” but they go on to say, “There’s all kinds of boys up under the sun, son, but this one’s for y’all boys.”
The images in the video feature FGL’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, along with their spouses, and, of course, Hardy, showing what these boys really enjoy doing. From performing for enthusiastic fans to fishing, off-roading, and maybe raising a glass or two of brown liquor, it becomes more and more obvious that they are, indeed, “Y’all Boys.”
If the name Hardy is new to you, the young singer-songwriter is the newest artist to sign with the Big Loud record label. The Philadelphia, Mississippi native says that he grew up on classic rock, but the songs on his debut four-song EP, This Ole Boy, are all small town, back roads, and America.
In addition to his own music, Hardy is one of the writers on the new Seth Ennis smash, “Call Your Mama,” as well as Florida Georgia Line’s, “Simple” and the Morgan Wallen and FGL hit, “Up Down.”
Now, with “Y’all Boys,” Brian Kelley, Tyler Hubbard, and Hardy seem to be sitting on one of this summer’s anthems.
