One of the cool things about the backstage area of any music award show is the impromptu concerts that pop up as musicians hang out in the hallways waiting for their turn to perform. It doesn’t just help the artists and players warm up, but also gives fans an intimate, once-in-a- lifetime opportunity. Even Hollywood hunk, Chris Pratt, got caught up in the magic as he listened in to Garth Brooks and his band get ready to hit the stage.
An Instagram post shows Chris leaning in as Garth’s fiddle player, Jimmy Mattingly, peels off the familiar strains of “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old).” Garth turns to face the actor as the vocal kicks in, and Chris, his hand on his heart, is delighted.
“Here I am all misty eyed backstage,” Chris wrote in the post. ‘A moment I will never forget.”
That likely would have been enough for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star, but it wasn’t enough for Garth. Singing a medley of his hits, including the legendary smash “Friends In Low Places,” he pulled Chris onto the stage with him just in time to help out with the chorus.
Chris shared a photo on his Instagram page of the performance.
“Welp. I guess I died and gone to heaven,” he wrote. “Thank you @garthbrooks and congratulations on the artist of the decade award. It was an honor to sing with you and the band on stage. I can’t wait for the upcoming stadium tour. God is so good. Thank you thank you thank you.”
It wasn’t just a big night for Chris, it was also a pretty big one for Garth. The iconic country
superstar was named iHeartRadio’s Artist of the Decade.
