With the release of his first studio album in three years, George Strait and his team are loading up the cannons for a big debut when Honky Tonk Time Machine drops on March 29. And they have just added a new lyric music video to their arsenal.
While many artists release lyric videos that rival the actual music video, George is kicking it old style, much like the shuffle-y, swingy groove of his new single, “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.” Words, occasionally in neon, flash against honky tonk and retro backdrops like vintage jukeboxes, pushbutton radios, and marquee signs, driving home that throwback Texas vibe.
“Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” is already proving that even though George is taking a break from touring, he’s still in demand and relevant to the format. The single debuted in the Top 20 on the Country Airplay chart. Honky Tonk Time Machine will be the 29th major label studio album to come from Strait since he released his debut album, Strait Country, in 1981.
The King of Country Music may be taking a breaking from “touring,” but he is still playing shows, too. According to his website, George has weekends in Las Vegas and Fort Worth on the books, in addition to one-off shows in Atlanta and Columbus, Ohio. He’ll also close out the wildly successful Rodeo Houston at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 17, just days before the release of his new album.
