Whenever two or more country stars gather, a jam session, sing-along, guitar pull or collaboration is likely to break out, so it’s no surprise that when Jake Owen and Travis Tritt met up to start work on the new USA TV show, “Real Country,” they had to jam.
In a video Jake shared on Twitter, Travis, dressed very much like Waylon Jennings, picks up a guitar and starts strumming and singing “Brand New Goodbye Song” from the outlaw’s 1977 album, Ol’ Waylon. Jake, one of country music’s youngest historians, happily sings along but seems just as content to be an audience of one in this exclusive behind-the-scenes concert.
Just a little Waylon Jennings jam session with a legend himself @Travistritt … this #RealCountryTV show is already amazing. Come see us in person next week! https://t.co/AlpUqfvSBz pic.twitter.com/tDcCMVihGQ

Even Travis noted Jake’s complete reverence and respect for his country music elders. He tweeted, “I’ve never met a young man who has a better understanding or knowledge of what traditional and roots country music is than he does.”
Regardless of what anyone might think of my buddy, @jakeowen, please know this… I’ve never met a young man who has a better understanding or knowledge of what traditional and roots country music is than he does. Many of his influences are so similar to mine.
