Jason Aldean kicked off the new year gathering family and friends at the Cambria Hotel in downtown Nashville Tuesday afternoon to celebrate his No. 1 hit “Drowns the Whiskey” featuring feat. Miranda Lambert.
Jason and Miranda took the song to the top of the charts with their fiery performance, giving Jason his 21st No. 1 hit. The song, featured on Jason’s album Rearview Town, followed up previous No. 1 songs “You Make it Easy” and “Any Ol Barstool.”
Surrounded by the song’s writers, Josh Thompson, Brandon Kinney and Jeff Middleton and producer Michael Knox (Miranda was unable to attend), Jason took the stage to thank his team and friend Tyler Farr for passing on the hit song.
“I want to thank Tyler Farr,” Jason said. “I was recording a few songs on Tyler Farr for his album and I found ‘Drowns the Whiskey’ and played it for him and wanted to record it on him. His answer was, ‘man, all my songs are about drinking, I don’t think I need anymore.’ I was like, ‘well I’m telling you if you don’t cut this thing, I’m going to.’ It was just a great song.”
After thanking the publishers and his record label, Jason went on to thank his wife Brittany, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child.
“My wife, love you,” he added. “She’s about to pop. Don’t go into labor until the party is over.”
Jason and his wife are expecting their second child, a daughter, Navy, any minute. The new baby will be Jason’s fourth child, but second with Brittany, who gave birth to son Memphis in Dec. 2017. Jason has two older daughters, Keely and Kendall, from his previous marriage.
