It isn’t too unusual for country stars to take on rock, pop, or urban hits on their socials just to give fans a fun taste of their diverse talent. While that’s often as far as those covers go, Jimmie Allen and Abby Anderson took it up a notch, not only releasing their cover of “Shallow” but also making a music video for the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper fan favorite.

Jimmie shared the big news on his socials late on February 21, but in the bio section of the YouTube video, he explains: “I fell in love with a movie, then I fell in love with a song from that movie. Now, I get to share my vision of how that song and movie creativity inspired me! “

Inspired indeed! Jimmie and Abby’s performances in the music video not only uncover a wealth of musical talent from both of the young rising stars, but it also hints that they could be quite capable in acting roles in television or movies.

“‘A Star is Born’ was one of my favorites from last year, and the performance of this song in the film really moved me as an artist,” said Allen. “I had chills! Getting to cover ‘Shallow’ with my good friend Abby was such a cool experience. She’s an incredible vocalist, and I’m excited for fans to hear our take on the song.”

“I think I speak for everyone when I say that I bawled like a baby during ‘A Star Is Born.’ The song ‘Shallow’ immediately stood out to me,” said Abby. “When Jimmie called and asked if I would sing on this song with him, I was honored. I mean I’m no Lady Gaga, but working on this with Jimmie, who pours his whole heart into a song vocally, was an absolute joy.”

If you didn’t know, “Shallow” was featured in the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper remake of the movie “A Star is Born.” Written by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt, “Shallow” was the first single released from the movie’s soundtrack. Not only did it become a No. 1 single on multiple charts it has also received numerous awards, including “Best Original Song” at the Golden Globes and “Best Duo/Group Performance” and “Best Song Written for Visual Media” at the Grammy Awards.

Will we see Jimmie and Abby perform “Shallow” live any time soon?

Abby hits the road with Rob Thomas in May and Jimmie is on the road with Rascal Flatts this summer. Both artists are in London on March 8 for the C2C Festival though, so…maybe?
