Just a day after teasing his new song “Coming Home,” Keith Urban has released the full version of the song with a lyric video.

The new tune, about longing to go home to the ones you love, will be included on his upcoming Graffiti U album. Hardcore country music fans may recognize some of the guitar riffs in the intro of the song that honors a Merle Haggard favorite. Because of that, Merle is recognized as a songwriter on the single.

“’Coming Home’ started with an idea I had of using the intro of one of my favorite Haggard songs  ‘Mama Tried’—to build an entirely new song around it. Then, I took the idea to J.R. Rotem and he put some chords around it. I jotted down the first words that the music made me feel, jumped on a mic and sang the chorus.”

Pop singer Julia Michaels (“Issues”) is featured on the song, but don’t expect a full blow duet. Julia comes in on the bridge, which is 3/4 of the way through the song. Her stunning harmonies can be heard toward the last verse, adding an engaging compliment to Keith’s vocals.

“Julia’s writing contribution extended into the idea of the need to want to physically be home,” added Keith. “She summed up the whole story in one sentence. ‘Yeah, I know it’s only one call away, but it’s not the same.’ For me, that simple phrase said so much, especially when she sang it!”

The mixed black and white and color lyric video will make you long for home. As the lyrics talk about living in an unfamiliar city, the images appear in black and white. Once Keith starts singing about going home, “There’s a place and I know that they all know me,” the images turn to color, giving a serene feeling.

Keith is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album Graffiti U, and it was important for him to get in touch with Merle’s family before moving ahead.

“I called Theresa Haggard and Ben Haggard to play them what we’d been working on. It was important to me to have their blessing- and I’m so grateful that they love the song.”

I wake up feeling, in my soul I’m
Living someone else’s life
I’m turnin’ into concrete, harder than these city streets
Where no one even cares if I’m alive

I gotta get it right
Get it right, mmm mmm

[Chorus:]
There’s a place that I know where they all know me
I gotta get back now to the ones who love me
Wrap myself around you, never let you go
There’s nothing in the world that feels like
The place that I know where they all know me
I gotta get back now to the ones who love me
Wrap myself around you, never let you go
There’s nothing in the world that feels like
Coming home, home, home, mmm
Coming home

My mind’s heavy and I can’t sleep, not even a memory
Is good enough to get me through the night, mmm
I’m longin’ for the real thing, people who know the real me
And all the ways to love me back to life

Mmm, I gotta get it right
Get it right, ooh, yeah

[Chorus]

[Bridge: Julia Michaels]
Yeah, I know it’s only one call away but it’s not the same
Yeah, I know it’s only one call away but it’s not the same (just not the same)
Yeah, I know it’s only one call away but it’s not the same (just not the same)
Yeah, I know it’s only one call away but it’s not the same

[Chorus]

Nothing in the world that feels like (Julia)
I’m feeling, lost in all the madness (Keith)
There’s nothing in the world that feels like (Julia)
I need somewhere to ease my mind (Keith)
Coming home (both)
These sidewalks filled with different faces (Keith)
So many places but there’s none like mine (Keith)
Coming home (Keith)
