Kelly Clarkson to Voice the Role of Moxy in New Animated Film “UglyDolls”

Kelly Clarkson is making a dream come true. The pop singer has been tapped to star in and record music for the animated movie “Uglydolls,” based on the characters from the plush doll franchise.  Kelly will be playing the lead role of Moxy.

“This is Moxy. I will be playing Moxy in “UglyDolls” the movie coming out next year that I’m very excited about,” Kelly said in a Facebook Live video. “Because what’s that you ask? Why yes, a big dream of mine has been to play in an animated film and also get to sing because I love singing. So I get to play Moxie. And I love her cause she’s pink too, so my daughter thinks I win at life.”

Kelly revealed the new via Facebook live coming to her fans directly from the studio where she was recording her voiceovers.

“I’m here in the studio today. I’m so nervous because we’re doing the voiceover part and It’s kind of that part where you don’t want to leave a message on someone’s voicemail because you hate the sound of your voice,” she added. ” But then you’re like, ‘I hope people like it because it’s all your going to see or hear, you’re not going to see me.’ I’m going to have to put on my thespian hat and act it out.”

The movie will also feature singer PitBull, who will record music for the film.

In the film, Kelly’s character Moxy and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.

UglyDoll characters are distinct for their endearing ‘ugliness,’ in a wonderful ‘uglyverse’ where differences are celebrated and embraced. The movie is set to hit theaters in May 2019
