Kelly Clarkson undergoes appendix surgery following BIllboard Awards

The old adage, the show must go on, became Kelly Clarkson’s motto when she hosted the 2019 Billboard Music Awards Wednesday night (May 1) while suffering from appendicitis.

Little did fans know that Kelly was suffering in silence. Not only did the 37-year-old host the three-hour event, she also performed a medley of hits and gave a stunning performance of her current single, “Broken & Beautiful,” without a hint of her pain.

The Grammy winner was flown back home to Los Angeles immediately following the show and taken to the hospital for surgery to remover her appendix onThursday morning (May 2) at Cedar-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.

After news broke about he the surgery, a fan on Twitter praised Clarkson for battling appendicitis while hosting the award show and delivering a flawless performance. Kelly took a moment to respond about the incident.

“Not gonna lie…. I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain,”she wrote.”BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix #TheShowMustGoOn.”

Kelly is currently resting comfortably and is expected to return to her coaching gig on the The Voice Monday night (May 6) for the live shows.
