Being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry is one of country music’s biggest moments. But when Kelsea Ballerini was preparing for her big night, she experienced another spectacular moment that was not planned.
During her induction, Kelsea was scheduled to perform a song with Carrie Underwood, who had the honor of inducting Kelsea into the Opry. However, beforehand as the ladies were rehearsing for the big moment backstage in the dressing room, in walks Keith Urban, who also appeared on the show the same night. That’s when the three superstars began singing Trisha Yearwood’s 1992 hit, “Walkaway Joe” in an epic rendition.
Earlier in the night, Kelsea raved about one of her musical idol’s, Carrie Underwood.
“I wouldn’t know what it looks like to be a female in country music without Carrie Underwood,” Kelsea said. “She’s the one for me that I’ve always looked up to, not only her music, but I think she has the kindest heart. I think that she’s so poised. I think that she does everything with grace and I’ve always wanted to follow in those footsteps.”
The 25-year-old took to Instagram to share a clip of the threesome.
“sometimes the most unforgettable moments are the unplanned ones. like this. backstage at the Opry with two of my hero’s singing one of my all time favorite songs. What a life. @carrieunderwood@keithurban @trishayearwood,” she wrote.
We’re just glad Kelsea’s camp caught the moment on film so we can all enjoy the unbelievable moment when three stars collided.
