Kelsea Ballerini has a lot to celebrate. In addition to releasing her newest single, “homecoming queen?,” she is also toasting her 25th birthday. But instead of letting those milestones stand on their own, she has been combining them in a series of reflective social media posts.

It started on the release day for “homecoming queen?” when Kelsea shared a still from the song’s video shoot and in the caption she wrote about looking back and accepting her vulnerability, insecurity and authenticity.

“I’ve learned there’s a lot of strength in vulnerability. I’ve learned that cliche catchphrase “nobody is perfect” is actually true and when we let ourselves believe it we get freedom from ourselves,” she wrote. “I’ve learned that I’m allowed to be happy, glittery, bold, sassy, and to never apologize for that side of myself. I’ve learned to also give myself permission to have a bad day, to feel insecure, to still be discovering who I am as a young woman, and to unzip the mess. I was never the literal homecoming queen. But damn, am I this homecoming queen.”

In another post, she shared a photo of herself as a little girl, already showing her great love for music. In the caption, she writes, “25 – the year I started being more like her.”

In the next post, Kelsea reflects forward about accepting her emotions, embracing her life, and making brave choices. “I took ownership over my life, thoughts, feelings, and creativity and trusted myself,” she writes. “I started therapy. I cared more about the meal than the bloat. I picked the midnight heart to hearts and wine nights with real friends over getting proper sleep. I did more travel for fun than just for “work”. I crossed some big, bold dreams off of my bucket list. I added more.”

25- the year I learned that even the ‘homecoming queen’ cries. I settled into my imperfections and stopped being scared to be emotional. I took ownership over my life, thoughts, feelings, and creativity and trusted myself. I started therapy. I cared more about the meal than the bloat. I picked the midnight heart to hearts and wine nights with real friends over getting proper sleep. I did more travel for fun than just for “work”. I crossed some big, bold dreams off of my bucket list. I added more. And I can’t wait to see what I cross off and learn and become through 26. Cheers from London and entering into my late 20’s. *starts actually using eye creams and learns hangovers last a full 36 hours*

But in the most recent post, we’re reminded how hilarious this talented young woman can be. The image accompanying the update shows Kelsea from behind attempting to remove the bottom half of her swimsuit from her tushy where it has become wedged. She writes, “25- the year a stranger with a camera taught me how to ‘pick’ my battles.”

And if that wasn’t funny enough, Carrie Underwood added a hilarious comment: “Well, what were you supposed to do??? Leave it up there? #VeggiesNotWedgies PS: I thought way too long and hard about a good hashtag and this was the best I could come up with.”

Well played, ladies!
