Earlier this year, right before Hillary Scott gave birth to twin girls  Betsy Mack and Emory JoAnn, her Lady Antebellum bandmate, Charles Kelley, told us that even though she was having twins she was, “fired up and ready. We were just sitting and making plans. Everybody is ready to get out there and sing these songs. It’s going to be really great.” He also shared that all of the kids would be coming on the road. But, when Lady A embarks on their Summer Plays On Tour with Darius Rucker one thing will be really different– their drummer of 7 years, Chris Tyrrell won’t be out there with the trio on stage.

In an interview with People, Hillary and Chris revealed that Chris will be “holding it down as dad, hero” at home.

Hillary shared, “We’re both equipping each other to do exactly what we’re supposed to be doing right now. We just came to that agreement together. It was one of the easiest decisions we’ve ever made and the peace that we’ve felt since we made it has just been continual proof of it being the right call.”

Chris added, “I’ve been a bandmate, employee, husband and dad, so I’m okay removing a hat. Besides, when you looked at whether the band could do without me or her, there wasn’t much question!”

Hillary added that she hopes her time on the road proves to be efficient, “It’ll hopefully be restful and efficient — I’m thinking about when we have writers out on the road to write for the next record. I’ll be able to be fully present and focused and hopefully get a lot of fun writing done.”
