Lindsay Ell is riding high after receiving her first No. 1 hit, “Criminal,” in her home country of Canada and touring with Brad Paisley.
However, the 29-year-old has been unable to talk about any of it because she was put on vocal rest by her doctor. Something the “By the Way” singer did not deal well with. One Country’s Kelly Sutton caught up with Lindsay on the ACM blue carpet to talk about the return of her voice, “Criminal” and more.
“I have been on vocal rest for the past week and I do not do well on vocal rest,” Lindsay said. “I feel trapped, like a bird in the cage. Finally, I’m able to talk on the carpet and I’m so happy to see you. It’s good.”
It is good, because Lindsay has a lot to talk about. First and foremost her brand new video for “Criminal,” released earlier this month.
“When we talked about the vision for this music video, Peter Zavadil, our director, took it to a whole other level. It was so cool. I never committed a crime, stole a car, been thrown in jail and broken out of jail in one day before. It was so much fun, I felt like we were shooting a little mini movie.
As the Canadian songstress wraps up her run on Brad Paisley’s Weekend Warrior Tour, she will join Sugarland’s Still the Same Tour, kicking off May 4 in Oklahoma.
“I cannot believe [Brad Tour] is almost coming to a close because it felt like our lives for the past year,” Lindsay said. “Sugarland tour is coming up in the next few months, which I’m so excited about my producer, Mr. Kristian Bush. I just love that man and so to be on the road with him I’m just so excited.
Later this Fall, Lindsay will then jump on Keith Urban’s Tour for select dates.
