The calendar may not say it’s summer, but the temperatures are already registering HOT in
much of the United States. It’s also shaping up to be a sizzling hot season for country music,
and Little Big Town isn’t about to let this summer of fun pass without their own musical offering,
Co-written by the band’s Karen Fairchild, along with Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, and Sam
Romans, and co-produced by Erasure and Shane McAnally, the lyrics are filled with the iconic
imagery of summer: “Feel that salt in the air, almost there. Got that wind in my hair, Ray-Ban
glare. Hear that song we love in the radio…”
Set to a disco-esque groove, “Summer Fever” becomes absolutely infectious and begs for less toe-tapping on the sidelines and more booty-shaking on the beach.
In a release, Shane, who has written songs for almost every hitmaker in Nashville, and
produced music for artists like Kacey Musgraves, Midland, and Sam Hunt, even admitted, ““I
don’t even dance, but something comes over me when this thing kicks in.”
Little Big Town performed the song for the first time on the CMT Music Awards Wednesday night, which they will also hosted.
“Summer Fever” appears to be the first release from the upcoming ninth studio album from Little
Big Town, however, no details have been announced. There is, however, a music video in the
Karen, Kimberly, Jimi, and Phillip will be hitting the road with Miranda Lambert and Jon Pardi,
along with special guests at various shows, on the Bandwagon Tour starting July 12 in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
