Hold on tight, folks! Lifetime is officially releasing a film about two extremely well-known country stars, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. The movie, aptly named “Patsy & Loretta,” will show the endearing friendship between the two women, and explore the journey between two artists— one already a huge star, and the other up and coming.

Two Broadway alums are set to star as the leads; Megan Hilty and Jessie Mueller, who are both no stranger to the limelight, will be cast as Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn respectively. Megan Hilty starred on Broadway in the production of 9 to 5: The Musical and Wicked; she will now take the lead as Patsy. Jessie Mueller is no slouch either; she has been a part of the cast in the musicals Carousel, Waitress, and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Jessie Mueller also won a Tony Award for her part in the production, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.

These ladies’ accolades lead us to believe we will not disappointed in the casting of these two legends.

TV Line’s synopsis of the film:

“When they first men, Patsy (Hilty) was already one of the biggest stars in country music while Loretta (Mueller) was just a coal miner’s daughter, starting off with little to her name but a $17 guitar. Instead of seeing Loretta as competition, Patsy took Loretta under her wings to help her make it in Nashville. Soon, they became close friends, touring together, bonding over their husband troubles and commiserating on being females in the male-dominated music business.”

As Patsy Cline was known for her support of other female artists, this film will show that in great detail. She was shocked by Loretta’s talent; therefore, she reached out and served as a mentor to the star.

I just hope they do the country star’s story justice, and we won’t be “crazy” for seeing it! While there’s been no official word on when the movie is set to air, it’s likely we can expect to see it near the end of this year.
