Luke Bryan is returning to the 53rd Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas this year with a lot less pressure on him. After hosting the big event for 5 years—three with Blake Shelton and two with Dirks Bentley—Luke can finally relax and enjoy the surrounding events.
“I can actually go to my friends parties that they have. I can see my wife,” Luke told One Country’s Kelly Sutton. “It’s interesting, it’s a nice touch to be able to come and relax and not have the pressures of hosting.”
One pressure the 41-year-old does have, is how to keep a straight face when the camera focuses on him during the Entertainer of the Year winner announcement.
“I don’t really overthink that. I’m always cheering for myself first and foremost,” Luke joked backstage at the Twisted X/One Country booth. “It’s always a tense fun moment and a lot of excitement. At the end of the day, I’ve been blessed to have had my name called multiple times. So if it happens for me on Sunday night, I will be celebrating like it was the first time. And if it doesn’t I’ll be celebrating either way.”
Luke plans to make the most of his time in Las Vegas enjoying time with friends and family. However, if not for the nomination, the Georgia native would be out turkey hunting,
Either way, Luke Bryan is a winner in our eyes.
Luke will be vying for Entertainer of the Year against fellow nominees, Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban. Find out who will win live at ACM Awards on April 15 at 8p.m. on CBS.
