[Watch] Luke Bryan Pays Tribute to Randy Travis As the Country Legend Looks On

-

Luke Bryan closed out CMA Fest 2018 with an epic set that went well after midnight. While 70,000 country fans were in attendance during his show at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, so was one very special country legend: Randy Travis.

The “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” singer didn’t notice Randy until several songs into his set and once he spotted him, Luke went into an impromptu cover performance of Randy’s well-known hits “On the Other Hand” and “Diggin’ Up Bones.”

Luke began “On the Other Hand” alone on guitar before his band eventually joined in with delicate percussion accompaniment. Meanwhile, Randy looked on from a seat in the audience and was all smiles watching the country heartthrob pay tribute to his music. At one point, Randy could be seen mouthing along to the words of his 1986 hit, “On the Other Hand.”

“I’ve been wanting to sing to you for a long time, buddy,” Luke said following his performance. “That was unrehearsed. I didn’t know you were going to be here. I hope you enjoyed it! I love you. Thank you.”
