“American Idol” brought them together and changed their lives. Maddie Poppe took home the win on season 16 of the reality show and Caleb Lee Hutchinson finishes second. That was the night that Caleb revealed he and Maddie were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Right then and there, “American Idol” fans fell in love with the 19 and 20-year-olds. Now there’s even more to love as the two lovebirds hit the road on the “American Idol Live tour with their fellow contestants.

Prior to the tour’s kick off, Maddie told Ryan Seacrest that she and Caleb were working on a duet for the tour. That duet is James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend.” A concertgoer caught the sweet duet in action.

Three quarters of the way through the song, Caleb changed the words to “and I’ll be there, I sure will Maddie. You’ve got a friend.” The crowd burst into an audible, “Awww.” And Caleb apologized for messing up.

“Sorry I messed up, I got lost in your eyes,” he said to Maddie.

“He always does this. He tries to make it all sappy and then I don’t know what to say because I’m so awkward,” Maddie responded.

“Maddie, finish the song,” Caleb replied.

And she did. Awww, young love.
