Just ahead of the 61st Annual Grammy Awards celebration and following the announcement of her new album, Girl, Maren Morris is giving fans a taste of what’s to come with the release of her new song, “Common.”
“Common,” written by Maren, Greg Kurstin and Sarah Aarons, finds the 28-year-old collaborating with acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile on the soulful tune that bares a simple message about getting along. With too much in common, why is there fighting, the duo laments.
“But we got way too much in common / So what’s the point in fighting? / We got way too many problems if I’m being honest / I don’t know what God is / ‘Cause we’ve got way too much in common (Mmm, mmm) / Way too much in common (Mmm, mmm) / Way too much in common,” they sing in the chorus.
“thank you Brandi Carlile for lending your angelic, powerhouse voice to my album. CHILLS,” Maren wrote in a social media post. The new tune is featured on Maren’s sophomore album, Girl, due out March 8.
This isn’t the first time the power ladies teamed up for a collaboration. Maren and Brandi joined forces for a memorable performance of “Natural Woman” for a tribute to the late Arethan Franklin during the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year.
You can catch Maren at the 61st Annual Grammy awards where is nominated for five Grammys, including Record of the Year (“The Middle”), Country Song of The Year (“Dear Hate”) and Pop Duo/Group Performance (“The Middle,” Zedd & Grey). Maren will also be performing when the show airs Sunday, February 10 on CBS.
