It’s too late for Christmas in July, but we’re happy to celebrate Christmas in August since Martina McBride has just announced her 9th annual The Joy of Christmas Tour.
The talented, blue-eyed beauty, whose Christmas albums are mainstays in almost every country music fan’s collection, shared details for the 14-city tour on her socials and website. Kicking off on November 29 in Biloxi, Mississippi and wrapping on December 21 in St. Louis, Missouri, the tour also includes stops in San Antonio, Green Bay, Philadelphia, Boston, Newark and Chicago.
“This show is so much fun to do,” Martina says. “We have everything from classic hymns like ‘Oh Holy Night’ to fun, big band, swing classics like ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town.’ It’s all very visual, the songs are well-loved, and you leave with a warm feeling. I love to think of entire families, from grandparents to grandchildren, enjoying The Joy of Christmas. It’s really a show for the whole family.”
Martina released her first Christmas collection, White Christmas, in 1998. The collection of traditional, sacred and contemporary holiday tunes went on to be re-released in 1999 with two additional tracks, and then again in 2007 with four more songs. Just last year, she released another seasonal project, It’s the Holiday Season, featuring nine contemporary favorites.
