Miranda Lambert has traveled the open road with her trusted airstream Wanda The Wanderer for years, and it was time for a renovation. Recently, the ladies of Junk Gypsy, sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes who were also the original decorators of Wanda, got their hands on the silver airstream again to give Wanda a much needed makeover.
“We probably should have done this a couple of years ago because it really needs it, but I’m glad we’re here now to save the day,” Amie previously said.
In the new reveal video of Miranda’s Junk Gyps-ified airstream, the singer invites Amie and Jolie inside. Anxious to see her reaction to their renovations, the six-minute clip shows the sisters putting together some finishing touches before Wanda heads out to join Miranda on the road.
Once the sisters meet up with Miranda ahead of a performance, it is obvious how excited she is with their transformation. With plenty of fringe in the airstream, the sisters explain that they wanted to combine “glam and girly” for Wanda’s makeover.
“It is incredible! I couldn’t have even dreamed up how great it turned out,” Miranda exclaimed. “It looks so much bigger. I literally didn’t know what to expect. All the band and crew can’t believe it.”
The sisters explain that their creative theme came from seeing Miranda’s 2018 Livin Like Hippies tour poster. From there, they found additional decorations and furniture for the perfect touch — including a vintage church pew that Miranda says she’s obsessed with. Another favorite accent is a booth that fits eight people around it, the perfect spot for card games.
Two old french chairs with velvet and fringe were another special touch as was a tambourine re-purposed and hung as a light fixture. Emblazoned on the tambourine’s top is a message that reads, “Blame My Gypsy Soul.” Loving her airstream makeover, Miranda said Wanda continues the tradition of being her home away from home.
“If Wanda’s there we know we’re home. ‘Cause our home is wherever we roam. It’s a place we can gather and be together,” she conceded.
