The Pistol Annies were on hand Wednesday night (Oct. 17) in Nashville as part of the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year. The country trio debuted a new song called “Sugar Daddy” which will be featured on their upcoming third studio album, “Interstate Gospel,” out Nov. 2.
The feel-good track had the three women singing of the things they like in men. With elements of country, rock and Americana alongside a guitar riff that will beg you to hit the repeat button, Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe showcased their fun side throughout the performance.
“If you want them finer things / Give me some sugar, daddy / If you want them diamond rings / Give me some sugar, daddy / Come on honey, do your thing / Give me some sugar, daddy,” they sing.
“I think it’s fun to play with your sexuality, and the power that you have as a woman,” Ashley says in a statement.
Bandmate Angaleena agrees, adding, “Also, you get to see a little bit of our personalities in this song, and what we like in boys.”
While the trio performed the song for the first time last night, fans will receive the track instantly when they pre-order the album. In addition to “Sugar Daddy,” upon pre-ordering other songs made available include “Stop Drop and Roll One,” “Best Years of My Life,” “Got My Name Changed Back” and the album’s title track.
Miranda was one of the 2018 honorees at the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year last night. She was recognized alongside Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, and Kimberly Schlapman and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum.
