Rascal Flatts fans know Jay DeMarcus as the bassist, producer and comedian of the group. Now, Jay can add memoir writer to his vast resume as he’s set to release “Shotgun Angels: My Story of Broken Roads and Unshakable Hope.”
The memoir will be available through Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, on April 30, 2019. The inspirational book will include Jay’s signature humor as well as detail his journey from small-town Ohio native to traveling the world with award-winning country trio Rascal Flatts.
“I’m really looking forward to sharing a pretty personal look at my path so far, as that isn’t something I’ve done yet,” Jay says in a statement.
“In ‘Shotgun Angels,’ readers will hear never-before-told stories and get a glimpse into what it was like for me coming from Columbus, Ohio, and my journey to Nashville. My ultimate goal is that the book will encourage people that no matter where they are in their lives, they can find hope, comfort and strength in their faith.”
A press release states that “Shotgun Angels” will give readers “a backstage pass to the unlikely journey that led DeMarcus from small-town Ohio to some of the world’s largest stages with no shortage of humor, heart, and off-the-cuff candor.”
Jay will embark on a multi-city book tour in support of the memoir next year.
In addition to amassing 17 No. 1 songs with Rascal Flatts, Jay has produced music for a diverse roster of artists including Reba McEntire, Chicago, Ronnie Dunn, Michael English, and Jason Crabb, among others. Rascal Flatts recently released their new single, “Back to Life,” and wrapped their 2018 Back To Us Tour. They have several tour dates scheduled through the remainder of the year.
