Sam Hunt Arrested for DUI in Nashville

Sam Hunt was arrested Thursday morning for driving under the influence and having an open container.

According to local news station WKRN, who obtained the police report, Sam was drunk as he drove the wrong way down an East Nashville road. Police booked the country singer into the Metro jail around 6:30 a.m.

Police responded to calls that a driver was going the wrong way on Ellington Parkway near Ben Allen Road. When police arrived they noticed that car going the wrong way and swerving. They then pulled the car over and smelled alcohol and noticed to empty beer cans in the car, WKRN reports.

Sam was the only person in the vehicle and according to the report admitted he recently drank alcohol. The report shares that Sam’s blood alcohol content registered at .173. The legal limit in Tennessee is .08.

Sam was released from jail on a $2,500 bond. A court date has been set for Jan. 17, 2020.

The 34-year-old singer recently returned from a music hiatus, releasing his current single “Kinfolks.” Prior to the release, Sam enjoyed mega success with his hit “Body Like a Backroad” and wed his wife Hannah in 2017.
