It’s been over a year since Sam Hunt released a single and four years since he released his chart topping album Montevallo. “Body Like a Backroad” was the only single he released in 2017 and it remained at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 34 weeks, leaving fans wanting more.
Fans are about to get more from the Georgia native, who took to Instagram to announce the arrival of a new single, “Downtown’s Dead,” on May 16.
Saying very little, Sam deleted all his old posts from Instagram, only to start fresh with four new images. The first image is a headshot of Sam, the second is of a mountain, the third is a window and the final image is of a Volkswagen Beatle in what looks to be a Mexican city. Each image has the simple caption, “New single, out tomorrow…”Downtown’s Dead.'”
No telling what the 33-year-old has planned, but he has said that he hasn’t found the inspiration for a new album as of yet.
“I haven’t really found the next thing that I really want to turn into a project,” he tells Yahoo. “I just have a lot of songs that are scattered all over the place. It hasn’t come together in a way that would really make a great album. I just haven’t really found that inspiration yet. I think it’s just taking the time to find the inspiration while on the road.”
It remains to be seen if “Downtown’s Dead” will be exactly what his fans have been waiting for.
