CCMA’s Tribute to Shania Twain Will Make You Want ’90s Country Back

-

Shania Twain was not only host of the Canadian Country Music awards Monday night in Canada, but she was also honored with a number of awards, including the Generation Award and the fans’ choice award. Popular Canadian performers paid tribute to the country songstress with covers of her most popular songs.

Canadian pop singer Jess Moskaluke and Canadian country singers Kira Isabella and Madeline Merlo took to the CCMA stage to honor the country music icon.

Jess kicked it off the tribute singing Shania’s 1999 hit, “Man I Feel Like a Woman,” followed by Kira singing Shania’s 1995 hit “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under.” Madeline Merlo then took the stage singing Shania’s current single “Life’s About to Get Good,” and was soon re-joined by the other two ladies to perform a verse of “Honey I’m Home,” before Shania herself walked up on stage to finish out the tribute in true style.

The night began on the red carpet when Shania was awarded the CCMA for Top Selling Album of the Year and Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year, for her current album Now.

“I wasn’t expecting this, I’ve been in the mode of hosting and congratulating other people,” Shania said after receiving her awards.

She later took to Instagram to thank fans and share her feelings about the spectacular night.

“Where do I even begin… What a night! It was such an honour to host the @ccmaofficial Awards and to get to celebrate so much incredible talent in country music,” she wrote. “Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners, thank you to the CCMA and everyone involved, thank you for the Generation Award, the top-selling album award, the Fans’ Choice Award… I feel so fortunate. But mostly, thank you to the fans who embraced my music and encouraged me to persevere, you guys are the reason why I’m still here and why I’m still loving what I do. There are no words to truly express my gratitude to all of you for your continues support and love throughout the years, of which it’s been many! Thank you, I love you!”
