When a song is as good as “The House That Built Me,” almost anyone could sing it and stir up emotions, however, Tanya Tucker’s new video for the Miranda Lambert smash elevates the song to a new level.
While still stay true to the integrity of the song, Tanya put her own spin on the 2010 chart topper, making it more personal and relevant to her and the music video drives that home even further. Made up of still photos and videos from the singer’s personal collection, fans are given a glimpse into the entertainer’s life and career, from her own infancy and childhood with her parents Beau and Juanita, to that of her own three children—Presley, Beau and Layla—along with the family’s dogs and horses.
In addition to personal family photos, Tanya also includes professional shots at various events, on different stages, and even some intimate moments backstage. She also adds special photos of her with her industry friends and peers including Sarah Cannon (Minnie Pearl), Ernest Tubb and Glen Campbell.
The video continues through to the present day showing that, even though time has passed, Tanya is still a strong, vital woman. And, it would appear, she has just taken her last baby off to start a life and memories of their own in Colorado.
As emotional as the song already is, the often grainy and sepia toned images make the song even more real and relatable. Add in Tanya’s innately gritty and emotive voice and it’s as if you’re taking a walk down memory lane with a dear, old friend.
