A couple of years ago, like a lot of people, Taylor Swift was summoned to jury duty in Nashville. When she was asked about her occupation she said she was a songwriter. Even more recently, Swift showed up at the famed Bluebird Cafe where she was first discovered and played a couple of hits acoustically and reminded everyone that you can take yourself out of country music, but you can’t take the country music out of your songs.

When it’s all said and done, Swift is going to go down as one of the greatest songwriters in country music history and if she transitioned back to country anytime soon, I’d welcome her with open ears. Most people would and should, especially if you look back at her history of acoustic performances. Not to mention, she performed an acoustic number during “Saturday Night Live,” right after reputation dropped.
