Thomas Rhett kicked off 2019 with another No. 1 single under his belt as “Sixteen” has topped the country charts this week. The singer took some time to thank fans and country radio for their support in a short Instagram clip.
“I really just wanted to say thank you so much to all my amazing fans and to everyone at country radio that made ‘Sixteen’ the No. 1 song in the country this week and also the fifth No. 1 off of Life Changes,” TR says in a video message.
He continues, “What a dang year. You guys have been more than supportive and I really just can’t wait to show you the next project and get out on the Very Hot Summer Tour. The record is almost done and I have got some new music coming y’alls way shortly.”
TR co-wrote “Sixteen” with Sean Douglas and Joe Spargur. It is the fifth single off his latest album, 2017’s Life Changes, and follows the success of previous singles “Craving You,” “Unforgettable,” “Marry Me,” and “Life Changes.”
While Thomas hasn’t revealed what his next single will be, it will likely be a track from his upcoming fourth studio album. The singer has been sharing updates on his new music with fans while in the studio. In December, he revealed that he recorded his 15th song for the project.
“Recorded song 15 today… so pumped to share all this new music with you,” he captions two photos of himself in the studio.
TR’s upcoming tour, the Very Hot Summer Tour, launches on May 17 in Spokane, Washington, and includes 39 dates. The trek features Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and TR’s dad, Rhett Akins, as tour support.
