New music from Tim McGraw is finally here. The “Humble and Kind” singer has released not one, but two new songs, “Neon Church” and “Thought About You,” his first solo releases in two years.
Tim’s last solo album was 2015’s Damn Country Music. However, he hasn’t been resting on his laurels. The Louisiana native released a duets album, The Rest of Our Life, in 2017 with his wife Faith Hill, which spawned singles “Speak to a Girl” and the title track.
Tim has been promoting “Neon Church” on social media the past few days, even deleting his previous Instagram posts to start fresh. The new gritty tune, has Tim singing about needing a bar to help him get over an ex love.
“What I need / is a neon church / with a jukebox choir / full of honky tonk angels with their wings on fire / straight pouring out that Johnnie Walker healing / I got a feeling / I need a neon church, ” Tim croons in the chorus.
As a bonus track, Tim also released a second cut, “Thought About You.” In the song, Tim is recalling memories of his ex in everything he does.
“I thought about songs that make us feel better / I thought about fate that ties it all together / I thought about now and I thought about forever / I thought about fire and how we walk through it / The times I got it right / the times I blew it / I thought about real / I thought about good and I thought about true / and I thought about you,” Tim sings in the chorus.
“Neon Church” is the follow up to Tim’s last solo effort, “How I’ll Always Be,” and will be featured on his upcoming 15th studio album. No details on the album’s release have been revealed at this time.
