[Watch] Abby Anderson Sings Soulful Cover of Kacey Musgraves’ “High Horse”

-

Abby Anderson introduced herself to the country music world earlier this year with her debut single, “Make Him Wait,” and now the singer is sharing her take on another female artist’s music. In a new video posted to Instagram, Abby gushes about Kacey Musgraves’ latest release “High Horse.”

“This song makin all my country disco dreams come true,” Abby captions a minute clip of herself covering the track. The singer is then shown seated in the studio at her keyboard as she gives a soulful performance of Kacey’s song. Complete with snaps and a powerful belt, Abby puts her own memorable spin on the disco-infused country song.

“High Horse,” co-written by Kacey with Trent Dabbs and Thomas Schleiter, is featured on Kacey’s latest album, Golden Hour, and offers a Bee Gees-inspired disco beat while the 29-year-old sings of a person who needs to be knocked down a peg or two.

Both Kacey and Abby recently announced major tours that have them traveling throughout the U.S. in the coming months. Kacey is set to launch the North American leg of her Oh, What A World Tour on Jan. 9 while Abby will join Brett Eldredge on his The Long Way Tour in September.

“I am so excited to have Abby join the Long Way Tour this fall,” Brett said in a statement. “She has a voice that grabs you by the heart and demands you to listen. It’s well beyond her years and I cannot wait to hear that golden voice every night.”

In addition to receiving praise from Brett, Abby has Katy Perry’s seal of approval on her single “Make Him Wait,” which Abby co-wrote with Tom Douglas and Josh Kerr.

“Miss Katy Perry called me,” Abby told One Country exclusively. “She heard ‘Make Him Wait’ and she called me up and told me she really loved the song. Now, that’s pretty cool.”
