The Academy of Country Music has a new airdate for their postponed Awards show that was originally set to take place on April 5 in Las Vegas.
In a press released that went out Monday morning (March 23) , the Academy has announced that the show will go on and it will happen live on Wednesday, September 16 at 8pm ET on CBS.
Prior to announcing the new airdate, The ACM’s announced last week that in place of the award show, an at home concert, ACM PRESENTS: OUR COUNTRY, will be broadcast Sunday, April 5 8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS, when the award show was originally set to air. The new special will feature at-home acoustic performances from your favorite country artists. According to the release, “it will be a night filled with entertainment, hope and reflection, bringing the healing power of music to Americans at a time when they need it most.”
“Although the highly anticipated 55th ACM Awards show is unable to take place on April 5th due to the health crisis, we still wanted to deliver fans an entertaining ACM Country Music special as planned,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music. “We are thrilled to announce ‘ACM Presents: Our Country,’ an all-new special that allows fans to connect with their favorite Country artists and to relive some of the greatest moments of the ACM Awards, all from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”
Previously announced to perform on the ACM Awards in April were host, Keith Urban, and Miranda Lambert. Miranda will also perform with Lindsay Ell, Caylee Hammack, Elle King, Ashley McBryde and Tenille Townes for the television premiere performance of the Music Event of the Year nominated song, “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”
The ACM shared the news on Instagram saying, “Mark your calendars! The 55th ACM Awards will now air live on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 8/7C on the CBS Television Network.”
We await word on performers for the Sept. 16 show and a location for the newly scheduled award show. Until then, consider our calendars marked!
