The Tennessean reports that Ben suffered traumatic head injuries in a fall. According to information released by the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, Ben fell while helping a woman onto a boat in Florida.

“He was really a rising star and I’m sick that we lost him, Davidson County District Attorney Glenn Funk said. “But I’m grateful for every day that he worked for us because he was great.”

Alan Jackson’s son-in-law, Ben Selecman, died from a boating accident Wednesday (Sept. 12) in Jupiter, Florida. He was 28.

Ben was Assistant District Attorney in Davidson County, Tennessee and married to Alan’s daughter, Mattie. The couple recently wed in October 2017.

The Davidson County District Attorney’s Office issued this statement saying, “The DA’s office is thankful for every day that Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County. Our prayers are with Ben’s family. He will be truly missed.”

No details of the accident have been released at this time.

Alan had been recovering from a respiratory infection and his upcoming concerts have been postponed due to Hurricane Florence. He will be back on the road for a show on Sept. 21 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Our thoughts go out to Alan and his family at this difficult time.
