Miley Cyrus loved it. Adam Levine loved it. Blake Shelton loved it. But, I’m not sure I loved Ali Caldwell’s performance of Dolly Parton’s mega-hit, “9 to 5.” It was great for “The Voice,” but that’s not even the best compliment a person can get on this show.
Obviously, anytime anything Dolly Parton is on primetime television, I’m in, but this felt a little more Branson than brilliant. Caldwell’s performance followed her masterful tribute to Leonard Cohen’s during last week’s Top 12 show and it just didn’t feel right.
If she was going for Tina Turner singing Dolly Parton– she nailed it.
After her performance, her coach Miley Cyrus said, “You’re just a star from the very beginning. And I’m so excited for you to win this show.”
