Even though Kacey Musgraves was invited to share the stage with Vince Gill, Chris Stapleton, James Taylor and Joe Walsh, the evening still left her in tears, because, “songs, man. SONGS.”

Chances are, most people in attendance for the All for the Hall Benefit Concert in Los Angeles also left in tears, because how often do you get to listen those people sing live, much less together, much less tell stories about the song they’re singing? The legendary songwriters participated in a guitar pull and decided what to sing at the spur-of-the-moment.

Vince Gill and James Taylor // “Bartender’s Blues”

James Taylor // “I Feel Fine”

The Country Music Hall of Fame’s All for the Hall campaign began in 2005; it addresses the Museum’s need for long-term financial security. In its ninth year, between New York City and Los Angeles— two cities rich with music history— the annual fundraising event provides a safety net for the institution and its work. This year’s proceeds will support the Museum’s educational programs, which teach audiences about the enduring beauty and cultural importance of country music.
